G80 electrified model (Genesis) |
Seeking to expand its reputation as a high-end luxury brand, South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor’s Genesis is set to enter Europe this summer, according to the company last week.
Hyundai Motor plans to introduce the G80 sedan and the GV80 SUV in European countries including Germany, Britain and Switzerland in June, it said. It will also bring the G70 sedan, the GV70 SUV and a strategic model customized for European markets later this year, the company added.
Genesis will add electic models in its European line up next year.
It will deploy electric-powered G80 and two other green models, it explained.
The luxury brand was launched in 2015 in its homeland and expanded its presence in North America, Russia, the Middle East and Australia.
So far, the brand has three sedans under its lineup -- the G70, G80 and G90 sedan -- and two SUV models -- the GV70 and GV80.
The company presented the Genesis X electric concept last month with the aim of competing with luxury auto brands targeting the fast-growing zero-emission sector.
