Shareholders of Kia Motors voted on March 15 to name Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun as director at the key affiliate.
The automotive conglomerate’s heir apparent has served as a part-time director on Kia’s board, while the carmaker’s President and CEO Park Han-woo, and Kia Executive Vice President Choi Jun-young, served as full-time directors, a company spokesman said.
Park and Choi were renamed to Kia’s board of directors at a shareholders meeting held in the carmaker‘s headquarters in southern Seoul.
Chung, the only son of Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Mong-koo, as director is widely expected to tighten the reins on the country’s second-biggest carmaker by sales, after Hyundai Motor.
