Korean retail giant Lotte Group’s hypermarket brand announced on Feb. 26 that it has opened a new store in Vietnam at Cau Giay district in Hanoi.

The 2,776 square meter sized Cau Giay Lotte Mart branch is located in the urban district, near seven local universities. The firm said its key strategy will be to offer trendy but inexpensive projects that can target students who are the major residents there.

Within the mall will be an International zone selling products from Korea, the US and Europe, while baked goods and easy-to-cook food will fill the Delica corner. Some 35 percent of the fresh food products will include harvests from farms close to Hanoi to maintain freshness.

“This year, we are planning to expand our business across the country, mainly focusing on Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City,” said Kang Min-ho, Lotte Mart Vietnam’s head of overseas business.

The Cau Giay branch is Lotte’s third in Hanoi, adding to the 46 branches it runs in Indonesia.
