[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics said on Nov. 13 its chief executive officer plans to hold meetings with IT experts in the United States this week as part of the company‘s efforts to recruit overseas professionals.

CEO Jo Seong-jin plans to meet experienced experts in the fields of emerging industries in Silicon Valley, such as robots, big data, cloud computing, self-driving cars and fifth-generation networks, and share with them the company’s vision on fostering employees for research and development.

His meeting partners during the business trip include professors from Stanford University as well as AI experts to share opinions on the AI industry trend, LG said.

Jo vowed to have the company focus on the AI industry during his speech at the IFA Berlin in August.

“Since his appointment as the CEO in 2016, Jo has been taking part in LG Techno Conference in efforts to invite competitive experts of research and development,” an official from the company said. The conference is a corporate event which aims at recruiting job seekers with advanced degrees.

Jo plans to meet business leaders of IT, financial and consumer goods businesses to discuss potential cooperation during the US trip, LG added.
