[THE INVESTOR] Seoul-based blockchain consulting firms EtherLab and Viral Nation successfully held a blockchain conference The Wall in Seoul recently.

It was a sideline event at Digital Media City Festival 2018 -- held on Sept. 5-9 in Sangam, a southeastern district of the city -- which featured not only Korean pop culture, but also emerging technologies linked to the next industrial revolution, including 5G telecommunications, Internet of Things, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Experts, entrepreneurs, and officials from different sectors -- from blockchain to law and investments -- participated in the seven panel discussion sessions held during the event.

They discussed a wide variety of subjects including new opportunities created by the blockchain industry, regulations, technology evolution through blockchain, and digital assets and exchanges.

Among the speakers were Jeon Ha-jin, head of the self-regulatory division of the Korea Blockchain Business Association, an industry body which promotes the blockchain industry, and Ko Young-ha, chairman of Korean Business Angel Network, which serves as a matchmaker between angel funds and ventures.

Nextmoney CEO Hong Yoon-don, Park Seong-joon, head of the blockchain research center at Dongguk University and Choi Yoo-jin, chairperson of The Institute of Nation Brand Promotion, a brand consulting organization, also took part in the discussions.

“The organizers invited speakers from various business sectors to help participants can get deep insights into recent blockchain issues from those with different perspectives,” EtherLab CEO Kim Kyung-soo said.
