[THE INVESTOR] LG Display said on April 5 its production line located north of Seoul was partially shut down for 14 hours due to a fire that broke out a day earlier.

A fire broke out at wastewater treatment facilities of LG Display’s complex located in Paju. Although nine employees were taken to the hospital, no serious injuries were reported.

LG Display said the production line of OLED and LCD panels was partially shut down as of 6:30 p.m., which was resumed as of 9 a.m. on April 5.

The display maker said the production line initially operated normally as the fire broke out at a separate part of the plant, but it later decided to stop operations for safety reasons as the fire was not extinguished immediately.

The fire broke out at 2:54 p.m. and was completely extinguished some 4 1/2 hours later.

The company said it has not yet determined the damage caused by the suspended production. Industry watchers said the damage could be in the millions of US dollars.
