[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics showcased a new front-load dryer with a 16-kilogram capacity on Nov. 27 to meet the market’s demand for products that can handle larger amounts of laundry.
The Korean tech giant showcased the 16-kg edition of the Grande Dryer, which is an upgrade of the 14-kg model launched earlier this year.
Samsung said the larger model retains the design of the predecessor but comes with a larger internal space with improved drying efficiency.
The company said the new model is significant as it can dry extra-large laundry, including blankets.
Samsung’s Grande dryers support what it calls low-temperature dehumidification inverter technology, which maintains optimized temperature to keep the top performance regardless of seasons.
The dryers are also designed to keep the temperature limit to 60 degrees Celsius to minimize potential damage to clothes.
The product’s air-sterilization feature is capable of eliminating 99 percent of harmful germs on laundry, Samsung added.
The 16-kg Grande Dryer is available in three colors: black, steel and white. The price tag ranges from 2.19 million won (US$1,930) to 2.29 million won.
