[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on May 29 it has released a new induction cooktop that connects to the tech giant’s Internet of Things hub, providing users with safer and more convenient cooking experiences.

The Korean tech giant said the new induction cooktop connects to SmartThings, which is Samsung’s home automation application that helps users to activate home appliances through smartphones.

Through the SmartThings app, Samsung said users can keep a close eye on the cooktop‘s temperature. With the “kitchen timer” feature, users can also receive an alert when their food is ready to be served.

Samsung said the cooktop also comes with the Flex Zone Plus feature, which allows users to utilize cookware of different sizes and prepare different meals simultaneously.

The Virtual Flame, another major feature of Samsung’s cooktops, turns on LED surface lights to provide users with a feeling of preparing food on a gas stove and help them get visual feedback on the intensity of heat being generated.

Samsung said the induction will come in two versions, freestanding and built-in, with model numbers of NZ63N7777FZ and NZ63N7777GK, respectively.

“Following the rising demand for induction cooktops, we have been expanding the number of new products to provide users with a wider range of choices. By applying Samsung‘s home IoT features, users are able to cook more conveniently,” the company said.
