[THE INVESTOR] Medtronic said on Jan.15 that it has named Chris Lee, previously president of the Greater China region, as president of Asia-Pacific to manage commercial operations and talent development.
With a base in Singapore, Lee will be responsible for operations across Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Indian Subcontinent, Japan and Southeast Asia.
“Asia-Pacific is a crucial market for the health care industry and a growth opportunity for Medtronic,” said Lee. “I look forward to developing and strengthening partnerships with our key stakeholders to deliver better patient outcomes by offering meaningful innovation, expanding access and aligning value.”
The region has a population of approximately 2 billion with net sales of more than US$3.4 billion for the company, constituting 12 percent of the Medtronic global footprint.
Prior to joining Medtronic, Lee worked for Bayer HealthCare, where he led their Asia-Pacific operations, based in Singapore, and the Greater China region, based in Beijing. In previous assignments, he led operations in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and other sub-regions in Asia-Pacific for both Bayer and Bristol Meyers Squibb.
Lee holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson and a master’s degree from the American Graduate School of International Management.
