[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics is likely to release the refurbished version of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 on July 7 possibly to maximize the marketing effects of using the number 7, according to news reports on June 19.
Samsung reportedly planned to launch the phone later this month but the schedule seems to have been postponed due to some production delays, the reports added.
Since the unprecedented recall of the fire-prone Note 7, Samsung has strengthened quality control process overall, increasing the number of steps for battery safety alone from five to eight.
The Note 7 FE is expected to feature a 3,200mAh battery, down from a 3,500mAh battery for the original Note 7, and an artificial intelligence assistant Bixby. The phone is likely to come with a price tag of US$700.
A Samsung spokesperson declined to confirm the phone’s launch schedule.
