The recent news that Samsung received an approval from authorities to run autonomous cars on roads in Korea has made headlines at home and abroad.
Attention is also being paid to the firm’s mobile OLED business as global smartphone makers, including US tech giant Apple, are expected to increasingly deploy OLED displays on smartphones.
Samsung Display, the display manufacturing subsidiary of the Korean tech giant, is reportedly spending up to 16 trillion won(US$14.2 billion) to build a new plant for flexible OLED for smartphones in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
A news report noted that the construction plan is aimed at meeting the soaring demand for the flexible OLED panels. Samsung Display has denied it.
