[THE INVESTOR] South Korean tech rivals Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are competing to supply infotainment system for Hyundai Motor's upcoming Genesis sedans, ETnews reported on March 16.
The report said Hyundai is the final stages to decide between the two contenders with plans to announce the winner in the first half of this year. Considering it takes about two years to produce a new car, the new infotainment system will be built in the cars that will roll out in 2019.

Samsung’s Harman International has already been supplying infotainment systems to the current Genesis lineup, including G80 and G90 sedans, giving it a fighting chance to win the upcoming bidding, the report said.
LG’s vehicle component unit is also pinning high hopes on the deal. The division is fast growing as it is providing 11 key parts -- including the driver motor, inverter, battery pack and infotainment system -- for General Motors’ first full-electric car Chevrolet Bolt.
A Hyundai official declined to confirm the ongoing bid, saying it’s too early to disclose the new car’s specifications and its suppliers.
