[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor saw sales of its hybrid and electric car models of the Ioniq surpass 30,000 units across the world over the past year, industry data showed March 5.
A total of 31,165 units of the Ioniq were sold worldwide since January 2016, according to the data.
Sales of the Ioniq hybrid reached 24,350 over the one-year period, with 6,797 units of the pure electric variant being sold.
Numbers also showed 18 units of the Ioniq plugin hybrid electric vehicle being sold during the cited period.
Hyundai Motor launched the hybrid Ioniq early last year followed by the electric version. The PHEV version reached markets last month to complete the company’s lineup of the green car.
The PHEV uses both an internal combustion engine and a more powerful rechargeable battery compared to the conventional hybrid to provide the maximum driving range.
