[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics will release its upcoming flagship smartphone G6 on March 10, almost a month earlier than last year’s launch of the predecessor, local news outlet ETnews reported on Jan. 11.
The advanced launch comes amid speculation that its crosstown rival Samsung Electronics has delayed the Galaxy S8 release to mid-April possibly due to the massive recall of the fire-prone Galaxy Note 7.

Sources said LG is making all-out efforts to get the money-losing smartphone business back on track with the new phone launch.
The G6, featuring a 5.7-inch quad HD display and Qualcomm’s 835 Snapdragon processor, will be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress trade show that kicks off on Feb. 26 in Barcelona.
“Details of the G6 will be announced at the MWC,” an LG official was quoted as saying by ETnews.
In February, LG also plans to launch the X300, a variant of the new K series budget phones that were unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week.
The X300 is rumored to have a slimmer body and 2GB RAM.
An LG spokesperson refused to confirm the news report but said the showcase event of the G6 is highly likely to be held during the MWC show.
