Hyundai Motor’s three vehicle models have been ranked the best new cars in India while the automaker’s Ioniq electric vehicle received full marks in an European safety test, the carmaker said on Dec. 1.
In a recent survey by global market researcher J.D. Power, the three Hyundai cars -- Eon, the i10 and the Creta -- have been named the best new cars launched in India between November 2015 and July 2016, according to Hyundai.
The Eon was named the best new entry compact car while the i10 and the Creta were named the best compact car and the best SUV.
Hyundai had the largest number of new best cars, ranking in three out of eight vehicle segments in India, while Japanese automakers Toyota and Honda each had two vehicles named new best cars.
Both the i10 and Eon have been best-selling cars in their segments in India over the past two years, while the Creta was named the Indian Car of the Year 2016.
The Creta, too, is widely expected to become the best-selling small SUV in India this year with 79,541 cars sold in the January-October period, leading all other competitors, including the Brezza from Maruti Suzuki which has sold 66,478 units over the cited period, according to Hyundai.
