[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics on Oct. 23 started sales of the Galaxy A7 smartphone equipped with three rear-facing cameras in Korea.

The Korean tech giant released the Galaxy A7 with a price tag of 499,400 won (US$441), which is relatively affordable compared with the main Galaxy Note 9 that is priced above 1 million won.

Samsung said the new device has three cameras, namely a main, a telephoto and a wide-angle that have 24-megapixel, 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel resolutions, respectively.

The smartphone also comes with a 24-megapixel selfie camera and supports LED flash to help users take high-quality photos.

The Galaxy A7 is also the first Samsung smartphone to have the fingerprint screening button on the side.

Global tech manufacturers have been installing more than two cameras on their new products in a bid to stay ahead of rivals in the face of a saturated smartphone market. LG Electronics’ V40 smartphone showcased earlier this month has a three rear-facing camera setup.

Besides the A7, Samsung introduced the Galaxy A9 smartphone earlier this month, which comes with a whopping four rear shooters.

It comes with a 24-megapixel main shooter, along with 10-megapixel telephoto, 8-megapixel wide-angle and 5-megapixel depth cameras, with the latter placing emphasis on depth of field.

The exact release date of the Galaxy A9 has not been announced, although it is expected to be around November.
