Huh Il-sup is the fifth son of late Huh Chae-kyung, the founder of Hanil Cement.
Huh studied business management at Seoul National University, and went on to receive a master’s and a doctorate in the same subject respectively from the University of Indiana and the University of Houston.
He began his career as an executive of Hanil Cement, and later moved to Green Cross.
At Green Cross, Huh served as president and later as the vice chairman. After the death of his elder brother Huh Young-sup, he took over as the chairman of the company in 2009.
Huh Young-sup founded Green Cross in 1967 by acquiring Sudo Microorganism Medical Supplies Co.
The Huh family also includes Hanil Cement honorary chairmen Huh Jung-sup and Huh Dong-sup, and Hanil Cement’s current chairman Huh Nam-sup, sister Huh Mi-kyung.
